I'm creating a page in a "build-a-book" that lists rules for OT. I'd like to add a pec at the end of each rule to serve as a visual aide. Is this possible?
Inquisitive in Quidnick
Yes, it is possible--although it may not be the ideal way to handle it. (And, not to be anal retentive or anything [OK, OK, so I am...], what you are asking for is a "visual icon" not a PECS-although we all do tend to use those terms interchangeably, they really aren't interchangeable...) If this answer feels daunting, read on 'til the bottom, where I've added an easier alternate solution as well.
- On your book page, drag in the first image you would use as your 1st visual icon.
- Double-click on the image, and click the little Edit button that appears in the upper left (to open the image in the Image Editor).
- You can then add a text box and put in your rules...
- And drag in images to illustrate each rule.
Here's what a book page looks like open in Image Edit:
To see it unfold in living color (fully and fabulously explained by yours truly), check out the video all about editing images by clicking here.
In my (painfully hard-won) experience (that you can benefit from sans the pain), doing it this way does have a serious drawback though. You can't go back later and edit it. You CAN reuse the exact same image (it will be saved in your media folder, and will appear every time you run a search for the first image you used). But you CAN NOT make any changes to it. I don't know about you, but inevitably, I want to make changes later!
You might consider doing a rule per page--it would be easier to create, and it would remain editable. You could then do a print version in Pix-2-Go on a single page with a rules list, each illustrated by the icons you picked for the lesson, as something to post in the room after the lesson has played to reinforce them.
Hope this helps!
